Dr. Jennifer Denise Carr - Dean of Student Service

Jennifer Carr serves as the Dean of Student Services at Tallahassee State College. She holds a Doctorate of Education in Organizational Leadership with a minor in Conflict Resolution from Nova Southeastern University, an MS in Human Resource Counseling from North Carolina A&T State University, and a BS in Applied Science-Social Work from Winston Salem State University.
Over her 20-year career, Dr. Carr has held numerous leadership positions in higher education. She has served as the Associate Provost at St. Pete College, where she was second in command of the Tarpon Springs Campus, Director of Academic Advising and Disability Resources at Hillsborough Community College, Director of Student Development at Craven Community College, Director of MBA - Evening Program at Arizona State University and a host of other positions at the University of South Florida and an HBCU, Clinton College.
She is also a proud Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated member and believes in "Service to all Mankind". Dr. Carr is a member of the American Counseling Association and Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society for educators. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, the beach, traveling when time permits, and spending time with family and friends.
Dr. Carr is anchored in being a leader who provides service to others and adopted the motto "Students First" because it's how she relates to students.
Dr. Sonja Wright-Smith – Assistant Director of Student Services

Dr. Sonja joined Tallahassee State College in 2020. She previously worked as Director of the Access Office at Valdosta State University. She earned an Associate of Applied Science in Information Processing and a Bachelor of Science in Administrative Services from Valdosta State and a Master of Science in Human Services from Capella University before earning a Doctorate in Ministry in Biblical Counseling from Andersonville Theological Seminary. Dr. Sonja is a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
She is passionate about enhancing educational advancement for at-risk students. Her favorite saying is “Don’t ask God to order your footsteps if you are not willing to move your feet.”
Natasha R. Mitchell, MSHRM - Student Accessibility Advisor

Natasha joined the TSC SAS family in 2021 as one of two Student Accessibility Advisors. Natasha received her master's degree in Human Resources Management from Troy University and her Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from Georgia Southwestern State University.
Prior to working at TSC, she worked as an academic advisor for the Langdale College of Business (LCOBA) at Valdosta State University. Prior to that, she worked five years as an academic advisor at the University of Central Florida.
Natasha’s held various positions in post-secondary education for 30 years. Positions such as Registrar, Associate Registrar, Ombudsman, and Academic Advisor. She truly has a deep passion for education and enjoys working with students.
“I see myself as that bridge that fills in the gap when students are transitioning from high school to college. As a first-generation college student, I know the importance of having someone to help maneuver on this new journey called college.”
Kayla Dover, MSW – Student Resource Coordinator

Kayla joined the TSC community in 2022. Kayla is a two-time graduate of Florida State University, receiving her Bachelor of Social Work and her Master of Social Work with a concentration in Social Leadership. She also received her Certificate in Leadership in Executive and Administrative Development (LEAD) while completing her MSW. Prior to working at TSC, she worked at HOPE Community as a Case Management intern and at Florida State University in their Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Office.
Her passion for equity and social justice sparks her inspiration to build programs that help people proactively rather than reactively. One of her favorite quotes is "I am no longer accepting the things I cannot change. I am changing the things I cannot accept" - Angela Davis.
Margaret Stevens, BSW – Senior Staff Assistant

My name is Margaret Stevens. I work at the front desk for the accommodation department at Tallahassee State College. I get the opportunity every day to work with staff who provide accessibility services to students to fit their educational needs. This office also provides academic advising and support services to students. The front desk is in the middle of the interaction between students and staff. The experience I have gained is immeasurable and has helped me in my career choice. Working for the college inspired me to finish working on my AA degree. I also earned an Office Management Certificate. Currently, I’m working towards a BSW in Social Work from Thomas University. I enjoy reading, cooking, shopping, old movies and most of all being a grandmother. I’m the caregiver of a beautiful autistic young adult niece.
Lekita Crapp - Student Accessibility Advisor

Lekita joined the Student Accessibility Service family in 2023 as an SAS advisor. She has been a part of the Tallahassee State College family since 1994, providing service to students in Financial Aid and the Office of Admissions and Records. While employed here at TSC, she earned her Associate in Arts degree and then went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration—Management from Saint Leo University. She is a member of the Association of Florida Colleges (AFC) TSC Chapter.
“My passion for helping students has allowed me to remain in higher education”. TSC has always provided a welcoming atmosphere. My position in the Student Accessibility Services office allows me to connect with our wonderful and talented students that make my day joyful”.
Currently pursuing her master’s degree in Human Resource Management from Saint Leo University, she anticipates completion in the Summer, 2025.
